Hazardous materials

Sapphos Environmental, Inc. works with clients to identify applicable, relevant, and appropriate federal, state, and local statutes, ordinances, or policies regarding hazards and hazardous materials. These issues must be considered during the decision-making process for projects that have the potential to interact with existing hazards, may require the use of hazardous materials, or may generate hazardous materials or hazardous substances or wastes. 


Sapphos Environmental, Inc. has the technical capacity to provide a range of environmental analysis pursuant to achieving hazardous materials compliance, analytical, and management services, including sampling plan design and coordination; asbestos and lead-based paint surveys; brownfields identification, assessment, and redevelopment; and compliance auditing and monitoring. Additional activities in support of environmental compliance documentation may include work required to secure required regulatory permits and approvals, public participation activities, scoping meetings, and mitigation monitoring.


The firm’s experience working on high-profile projects involving multiple federal, state, and local entities has fostered the development of excellent working relationships with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers; California Department of Transportation (Caltrans); California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA), Department of Toxic Substances Control (DTSC); California Air Resources Board (CARB); Regional Water Quality Control Board (RWQCB); South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD); County of Los Angeles; Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD); City of Los Angeles; and City of Long Beach.
