CEQA/NEPA Specialist (PASADENA)

Sapphos Environmental, Inc. is seeking an experienced CEQA/NEPA Specialist. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong background in the preparation of legally defensible CEQA and NEPA documents; environmental permit compliance; stakeholder engagement, community outreach and public relations. This highly skilled individual will also be responsible for generating business leads through new and existing business development opportunities and provide internal and external client management, establishment of project scope, controls, and delivery of quality products.

Responsibilities

  • Independently lead preparation of CEQA and NEPA documents including Categorical Exemptions, Environmental Impact Report, Initial Studies/Mitigated Negative Declaration, Environmental Impact Statement, and supporting technical studies.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously, leading interdisciplinary internal and external teams, sub-consultants, and vendors.
  • Preparation of project scopes and schedules.
  • Attend and participate in client and project meetings.
  • Prepare business development and marketing material.
  • Ability to work with limited oversight and direction while producing quality work assignments and mentoring junior staff.
  • Collaborates with technical Subject matter Experts to research, analyze, and resolve complex environmental compliance challenges.
  • Be responsible for project setup, project delivery, project controls, business development, client satisfaction, and profitability.
  • Develop and manage key client relationships.
  • Initiate, prepare, and review proposals.
  • Prepare and organize project deliverables milestones using PMI software and project-related correspondence.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in environmental science , environmental planning, environmental studies or a closely related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Possesses in-depth knowledge of CEQA/NEPA regulatory framework and its proper compliance.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in preparing CEQA documents as a technical lead or project manager.
  • Local, state, and federal compliance and permitting experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing multidisciplinary teams, stakeholder engagement, and public outreach on large-scale projects.
  • Strong written and oral communication.
  • Strong conceptual, organizational, problem solving and research skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in environmental science, environmental planning, environmental studies or a closely related field or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education.
  • Experience in the preparation of NEPA documentation, preferably in California.
  • Experience in project management and providing environmental consulting services in support of project siting, design, and permit applications.
  • Experience in a client-facing role including business development, client portfolio and account management, directing client strategies, and opportunity tracking.
  • Experience in leadership, project management, staff supervision and mentorship.
  • Experience managing client portfolios, accounts, directing client strategies, and opportunity tracking metrics.

Hybrid remote in Pasadena, CA 91107. Compensation is  $70,000.00 - $109,000.00 per year.
