Catalina Solar Arrays
Catalina Renewable Energy Project
Kern County, CA
The first 110-megawatt (MW) solar component of this project was energized in fall 2013. Sapphos Environmental, Inc. prepared an Entitlement Package supported by technical studies, and served as a peer reviewer for the EIR for this 200-MW wind and 150- MW solar energy project. Seven technical reports were prepared for the 6,739-acre study area: air quality, biological resources, cultural resources, geologic resources, hydrology, noise, Phase I ESA, traffic, and visual resources. Sapphos Environmental, Inc. prepared an addendum to the EIR and prepared multiple plans to support the construction and operation phase of the project. In addition, Sapphos Environmental, Inc. conducted Phase II archaeological evaluations, Phase III archaeological data recovery, and implemented the Mitigation Monitoring Plan and permitting related to preconstruction and construction phases.
